Artur Pericles L. Monteiro is Assistant Professor of Law and the Mary & John Brock Professor of AI Law & Policy at Mississippi Christian University School of Law. He is an Affiliated Fellow at Yale Law School’s Information Society Project. Professor Monteiro currently researches how constitutional structures can respond to the concentration of power in AI companies and platforms. He also writes on free speech, privacy, and encryption.

His publications appear or are forthcoming in the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, the ACM Proceedings of the Symposium on Computer Science and Law, and the Journal of Free Speech Law. He has served as an independent expert for nonprofits, technology companies, and international organizations, including the United Nations and the Organization of American States, and contributes to Freedom House’s Freedom on the Net report.

Professor Monteiro joins MC Law after teaching and researching law and technology at Yale, where he was a Resident Fellow at Yale Law School’s Information Society Project and the Schmidt Visiting Scholar on AI at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs. He was previously a law clerk, a practicing attorney, and head of research at digital rights think tank InternetLab. Professor Monteiro earned his law degree and his PhD at the University of São Paulo.
